LHF#50: Roster Rally / Gratitude

Welcome to our first Roster Rally!

So let me introduce you to this term:
Roster is an itemized list.
To rally is to muster for a common purpose.
(Thanks merriam-webster.com!)

Lord-willing, we will be posting a Roster Rally every Friday. Each week we will focus on a particular theme. Our goal is to ...

"stir up one another to love and good works"

and to encourage one another to

"hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering"
Hebrews 10:23-24

We're starting out with a Gratitude Roster Rally.
The Bible repeatedly instructs us to be thankful. Why is thankfulness so important?
Grateful hearts reflect humility to God and recognize Him as the Giver, our Good Shepherd, the Sustainer of our souls.(Acts 17:25; Psalm 23:1; Psalm 54:4). Thankfulness is an essential quality of the "new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator"(Colossians 310). This further description follows:

... be thankful.
Let the word of Christ
dwell in you richly,
teaching and admonishing
one another in all wisdom,
singing psalms and hymns
and spiritual songs,
with thankfulness
in your hearts to God.
Colossians 3:15-16

Gratitude goes hand in hand with our sanctification. It should be part of our shared spiritual growth and worship. Enough reasons to be thankful!

For this week's Roster Rally, look for evidences of God's grace in your life. Nothing is too small or ordinary. It can be a sentence, phrase, or word. Repeats are no problem! Just list what you are thankful for. Get the kids involved, or anyone else at home.

I'll start us off.
You continue the numbering,
and we'll see how far we get.
Let's go!
