LHF#9: Anxieties for the Almighty

These are unprecedented times. The uncertainty of it all breeds fear: fear of the unknown, fear of contamination, fear of losing control, fear of loss, fear of suffering, even the fear of death.

As fear mounts it gives way to worry. Cares abound. We get anxious. The more we read and hear, the more anxious we get. We struggle to keep it together through the day only to lay awake worrying at night. We get up the next day to more troubling news and the cycle repeats itself.

What to do? How do we get this anxiety under control?
God's Word offers many encouragements to the fearful. Here's one:

casting all your
anxieties on Him,
because He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7

These words come in the context of humbling ourselves before the Lord.
"You've got this, Father. I know You are in control. Nothing will happen that You don't have a good purpose for. I will trust You."
Yes, an absolutely hefty surrender. But this is where the rubber meets the road. This is standing on the promises.

As we're stepping out it humble faith, we can give our worries and cares to the Lord. Tell Him. Hand it over. Just lay them down at His feet. Let go and let God.

Why would we do this, aside from the clear command?
Because He cares. God really cares about you. His love moves Him to compassion for you. This is a solid, active, tender truth we can count on.

In thinking further, how does God's care for you help when you are anxious?
What Bible promises encourage you and strengthen your faith?
