LHF#59: Roster Rally / Stress Relievers

The extended time we have been undergoing the effects of the coronavirus pandemic has dramatically impacted our lives. We have been dealing with change in our personal, work, church, family, social, and perhaps even academic lives. The weeks of social distancing and quarantine restrictions have brought much stress. Anxieties and tensions have been running high. At this point, the end of the pandemic is in sight. At least for now. But as we move into the "new normal" the latest concerns are about the lasting effects of all we have endured, particularly in the area of processing the ongoing stress and fear. Now the apostle Paul, writing to a church plagued by considerable turbulence, ended his letter to them with these words: Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. 2 Thessalonians 3:16 Seems to me that having such peace would be a real help in dealing with the pressures of life. LHF#10: Many Precious Thoughts

Church tomorrow has been cancelled. We cannot meet together for at least a week. The hope is that limiting our contact will slow down the spread of the coronavirus. We do it out of love, to take precautions aimed at protecting the weakest and most frail among us. So it will be up to us to get enough spiritual nourishment to sustain us. This gives a new appreciation for the Word of God which has been given and is available to us. What a gift! We know the Bible contains the words and ways of God, His promises and truths which can help us grow in knowing Him and becoming more like the Lord Jesus. Yet it requires discipline to set aside time and focus our attention on this Word. Our hearts must be willing and pure. Our desire must be to listen, learn, and grow. Why would we do all this? I ran across this list a few days ago. It is a wonderful testimony of ways God is showing His love, keeping His promises, and growing His church during the current pandemic.
